Ladies and Gents Who Lunch photos

A recent birthday lunch in Oakland

April 11th, 2004

Where, Why, How
Easter Sunday after an excellent afternoon in the country near Hollister with MSM and friends, MSM flying as I write to Scottsdale for an intense period of study at Ice Cream University. Yes, there's a story; no, I'm not going to relate it. A good day with a couple of hours on a lightly travelled highway, something to comment on here at the traffic clogged end of the rainbow.

The color's odd in the photograph, isn't it? Shot in a restaurant with a strobe on the digital, hard to say where my own idiocy leaves off and the camera's begins. Yesterday's photograph was taken with the same camera with the ISO cranked up to 1,000 without a flash, the photograph above at ISO 200 with. You learn one picture at a time.

This weekend has whipped by and there are things I have not accomplished. The taxes. I have about 90% of my taxes done, but I've had about 90% of my taxes done for the last two months. And they owe me money. You're not supposed to admit that. People will think you have no sense: money sense, business sense, common sense, nonsense. Well, yes, nonsense.

Not a lot of thought being put into the writing here, now, is there.

I've been thinking about that. Maybe I can go sit alone in one of the labs at the office and do some writing at noon, write a page or two longhand that I can enlarge and manipulate later in the evening after work. (Pay no attention to this person, it's just the energy returning, causing his mind to jabber. It will pass. I know this from experience. Trust me.) But write what? Who, what, when, where, why, how.

The photograph was taken at a recent birthday lunch in Oakland with a Nikon D2H mounted with a 70 - 200mm f 2.8 Nikkor (Nikon) lens and an SB-800 strobe.
