Guitar Practice In

Monday. Up at six with the alarm thinking maybe a little more sleep, getting up anyway, the head reasonably clear compared to the way the head's been acting these last few days. I watched the end of the Tom Dowd movie last night while strumming along on the guitar. Very nice. I'll give it a high rating on Netflix, not that it will make their recommendations any more coherent. Be interesting to know what they factor in their algorithms looking to pick movies you might be interested in based on your preferences. I would have been more interested in such when I was younger I suspect, care less as time goes along.

A clear sunny day. We Are One, a union sponsored rally, is being held late this morning in front of Oakland City Hall, so I suspect I'll go. I didn't get much of anything at Wondercon yesterday, which is fine, but there were clearly opportunities for more photographs if I'd had the interest, energy and a clearer mind. But that's the daily territory now, funky but functional. We're still getting out there, but at about half flag.

Later. OK, things are as they should. The back hurts a bit, but that's normal for all the walking with the cameras and the backpack and such, it will come together by late afternoon or evening. A bus downtown, an hour shooting the union rally in front of the Oakland City Hall. Not much inspiration in the photographs, I'm afraid, but I learned more lessons (about shooting rallies like this one), so we're encouraged. A bit. It's always two steps forward, one step back. For me, at least, maybe not for the rest of the world.

I did stop by the hat shop and bought a hat I'd looked at last week. I thought the color wasn't quite right when I first looked at it and I'm sitting here now thinking maybe the color isn't quite right when you wear it with black, but just fine with say brown or white. I'm not a clothes mouse, let alone a horse, but I like to keep the colors in balance. Some lesson learned maybe at a much younger age that seems to have stuck. T-shirts and jeans but, you know, matching colors at least. Probably not altogether useful, but for whatever reason, I don't like brown sox with blue shoes and green pants. One must be honest about one's prejudices I think.

You could, you know, just run a picture.

There is that.

Later still. I put together a page for Here In Oakland. They really aren't quite up to snuff, but it does give some idea of what the rally was like and like any photography event, some are better than others. Anyway, that's what I did this afternoon after getting back from the downtown, that and spending a little time with the guitar. More guitar later. Chords, I think. It's always chords lately, although they do sound better.

The bone scan tomorrow. They put in an I.V. with some added radioactive this and that's, you wait around for two hours so the bones can absorb it and then they scan you with something that picks up the radioactive particles now being emitted by your bones. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Well, the fun will come when they read me the results on Friday, we'll worry about it then. Otherwise Mr. E and Mr. S have something in mind for later this evening. I'll have to hustle to fit my guitar practice in.

The photograph was taken at the San Francisco Saint Stupid's Day Parade with a Nikon D3s mounted with a 70 - 200mm f 2.8 Nikkor VR II lens.
