We Did
Saturday. An uneven night's sleep waking up briefly a number of times through the night, but lights out early enough to awaken feeling pretty good around six. Better to sleep straight through, but the results seem good and so no complaints.
A walk to breakfast, no East Bay Times again, this morning. I'm not sure if the paper has a “deliver before” rule for the people to deliver these things or not. But I may check.
The single pork chop, eggs over medium, country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast because that's what I ordered, no rational explanation for it I can find. Doesn't seem to bother me, at least at the moment, but we have the Saint Stupid's Day parade to photograph at noon and I may regret it then. For now feel fine.
They are putting up tents and such along Grand for the Oakland Marathon tomorrow and so a picture to that lone flower at the base of Lakeshore School and then a couple of photographs of these tents and porta potties along Grand near and by the lake. They're closing Grand for the marathon and so we walk to breakfast again tomorrow morning.
Later. Definitely tired, but I did catch the bus and then BART to San Francisco to walk to the Pyramid building where the first handful of people had shown up an hour before the parade was due to start at noon and took enough pictures for two sections on artandlife.
No Wavy Gravy and no Doggie Diner heads showed up for the parade (one hopes Wavy Gravy is in good health), but there was a reasonably good turnout by noon and so, of course, pictures in bright light and shade. Not your friends: bright light and shade. Maybe better handled by a better photographer.
Caught a train back to Oakland just before the group set out on the parade and had a fruit cup and diet Coke at the bagel shop in the City Center as I waited on the bus and then a bus straight home. Tired. Lots of running around, good exercise, but it's not getting any easier and so we'll go through another “Hup! Hup! Get more exercise!” routine and hope that's enough. Actual walking still seems rather extreme.
Later still. Processed photographs with the television droning on in the background, prepared the headlines for artandlife and just generally took my time zoning out while accomplishing something from the day's shoot. Doodle-dee-doot.
Evening. More of the same. Checked out the second Thin Man film that started at eight on Public Television, thought about it, but decided it and I were no longer as close and headed for bed instead. More Saint Stupid's Day photographs tomorrow, won't promise they'll be done, but we made progress today, we did.
