Else

Monday. Reloaded TurboTax and filled it out starting from scratch, only to discover I couldn't file because they need the dollar figure filed from the prior year, evidently used by the IRS to confirm your identity when e-filing. Which is sitting on the no longer working computer. Jumped through their list of hoops to find the number as instructed on the IRS site, but they weren't able to confirm my telephone number in the last step when I entered it. A number I've had for years. I should have had them overnight that replacement controller for the main computer. And, of course, I should have backed up the TurboTax stuff on an external drive. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

Still, this has resulted in going through and cleaning up areas on my computer desk and storage areas that have needed it since forever. The laptop is working, but it taking ten times the time it took for the main computer to perform a task. I have the time. He said, smiling.

Can't process pictures on the laptop and so I've been cannibalizing old posts and whatever to cobble this together. I say I'll go back and clean it up when I get the main computer functioning again. I'll say it, but have no idea if I'll do it.

You're babbling.

Losing that controller has caused things to stop and getting them going again, if I can get them going again, has proved to be difficult. More so than I care to discuss.

Morning. A decent night's sleep to awaken at six-thirty, get up and walk to breakfast. The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee over the papers to then set out for home taking the usual pictures, none of which I can process on the computer and so stay in the camera. Cobbled together what I could to put this together.

Later. A bus to the Broadway ATM, took a few pictures of the apartment house construction site and managed to return to the stop to catch the bus back to the apartment with a minute to spare. Figured I'd walk if I missed it.

Spent more time on the tax return. I can file if I print the thing and so we'll set the printer up on the laptop. Tomorrow. I don't owe them a payment, but again, lost last years numbers, my fault for not having a hard copy on hand. One that I can find, anyway.

Evening. Nice day today, but stayed inside and continued solving problems that appeared when I lost the computer controller. Those, at least, that I could. I really hope it's not the hard drive as well as the controller that failed. Didn't lose any photographs, but, you know, the tax information and too much else.
