Straight

Saturday. OK, lights out at nine-thirty, my lights out soon after, to awaken then at five forty-five, too early, but stayed under the covers to listen to the radio for a while before finally getting up and out the door to walk to breakfast, the temperature not so bad. Arrived to find the lights off inside, but the dining room area door open again and so in to turn on the lights and start on the papers.

The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast to finish up by eight-thirty or so, trying to remember yesterday's price of gas at the station across the street. Decided to play it safe and so crossed and took a picture of the sign before returning and then walking on home, the day still overcast, but no rain in sight. Arrived to take the selfie in the lobby before heading upstairs to look at yesterday's entry.

We'll not say more, didn't bother to hold my nose when I posted. The price of gas had indeed increased by sixteen cents for regular and so the papers were right in saying we're looking at four dollar gas in the near future.

Why is this important, ye who buy a tank of gas every couple of months or so, if then?

Holdover curiosity from my old economics courses: monopoly pricing and how it works. Should have let it go long ago. Otherwise feel pretty good, maybe get out again before the day is over.

Later. Watched golf before walking over to the lake and then on to the Grand Lake Farmers Market, thinking maybe I'd buy some fruit, but wandered around without finding anything that appealed and so back to the apartment taking but three or four pictures on the route.

Back to watching golf. I know, but I have no idea what it is that seems to appeal.

Evening. Tried watching The Verdict, a 1982 the Paul Newman Saturday Night movie on PBS, to give up finally after maybe ten minutes. Should have checked out the Italian Anti-Mafia Squad – Season One, Episode 1 that had started at seven, but figured, well, Italian, probably hopeless. In checking it out an hour into it at eight discovered it didn't have the impossibly silly humor many Italian productions seem to require.

Grumpy old man.

Ah, well. A decent enough day. In bed and lights out by nine-thirty again, so at least we seem to be keeping the bedtimes straight.

The photo up top was taken a the 2018 Saint Stupid's Day Parade with a Nikon D500 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 Nikkor VR lens.
