Sistah's Steppin' in Pride Parade, Oakland

August 27th, 2006

All Those Reasons
Sunday. Up at an early hour thinking of going into the office early so I can get a parking space in front of the office, doing some needed work and then walking over to photograph the Chinese festival after about eleven. Going into the office is the clinker. I'd almost rather drive down later, spend the money for parking, skip the office altogether and just shoot pictures. Which I will. Today, anyway, early in the morning. Here in Oakland.

And I did. Downtown early, found a parking space, futzed around setting up the computer on the new floor in the new cubicle, went next door to walk through the Chinese festival with two cameras this time, shot a couple of pictures, had a strawberry ice cream cone in the Chinese Cultural Center, walked over to have lunch at PCB, sat for five minutes without anyone coming to take my order, left PCB, picked up a quart of diet Coke on the way home, took a nap. Nice, for a Sunday. Now the laundry. What a concept, what a concept, but I'm out of everything. Everything.

Four in the afternoon. The laundry is in the drier. So simple to do, to hard to get me to do it. Once it's started it's a piece of cake. Life continues to be strange but, you know, laundry strange, not airplane flying into your building strange, not sarin gas in the subway strange. No complaints for all those reasons. Really.

The photograph was taken at the Sistahs Steppin' in Pride parade in Oakland with a Nikon D2x mounted with a 70-200mm 2.8 VR Nikkor lens at 1/800th, f 2.8, ISO 100.
