Here In Oakland

Art & Life

August 3, 2018

Watching

Friday. I did get to bed early last night to turn out the lights before nine and awaken at five-thirty, but to then doze off and awaken again at six-thirty, running a little late. So I'm at least thinking I may have gotten a decent night's sleep.

The sun had broken through the marine layer when I set out for breakfast so maybe we're in for higher temperatures later today. (The weather forecast says mid-seventies here in Oakland.) Arrived at the restaurant at seven and ordered the French toast with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee because that's what came out of my mouth when I was asked to order.

Don't you think you've beaten this breakfast thing to death by now?

Thinking isn't all that much in play around here anymore.

Bright sun on the walk home, the attitude good. A photo of a guy standing on a mono wheel skateboard of some kind at the Highway 580 overpass. Home to finish and post yesterday's entry, sitting here now with a sunny Friday ahead, maybe go by the Koreatown First Friday event later at five.

Later. Checked the local news at noon to see what what up with the fires. Not good from the sound of it. A walk to the construction site just up my street for another picture to see what they'd done since the last picture taken last week. More plastic sheeting in place, otherwise nothing much other to note.

Evening. Didn't go by the First Friday street fair. Close, though. Packed the camera, checked the bus schedule, but that was as far as I got. Two possible events to shoot tomorrow, the Nihonmachi Festival in Japantown and an Obon Festival, a local one here in Oakland I've not heard of before, either one of which I'd have photographed without a second thought up until now.

Causing you concern?

Just watching.
