Marathon
Tuesday. To bed by nine, to sleep around ten, awake at six-thirty, so we're still getting a good night's rest and have had some success in moving our wakeup time to when it's getting lighter.
The needed disk from Dell arrived this morning, totally surprising me, as they'd sent the thing late yesterday afternoon. Exchanged emails with the Dell support person and managed to install Windows 7 on a new hard drive, feeding it device drivers that had been downloaded to a USB memory stick in the laptop and then moved to the hosed computer. None of this is meant to mean anything other than there's a long day ahead and, I suspect, it's not going to be done until tomorrow. Many pieces of software to track down, serial numbers to find and much hair to pull out.
Evening. The computer has been downloading both Adobe software (without which a photographer is out of the game) and Windows 10 and it's been taking longer than I ever imagined. Left the thing running when I went to bed at nine, the Windows 10 download having begun mid-afternoon. Ah, well. Progress, at least in the sense that a turtle makes progress in a cross country marathon.
