Art & Life

Oakland

Friday. Another lights out early enough, to sleep early enough, to awaken then at a quarter to six. Too early, but not all that too early and so a leisurely get up and get out the door to walk to breakfast under another clear skies, but cold morning. Much as it was yesterday. No complaints.

The waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries (with butter and syrup, this time), fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, finishing up the papers by a quarter to nine, the sun bright, the air warmer, the same series of pictures on the way home. Two groups of Lime scooters set out on the sidewalk next to the lake, the things scattered about pretty much everywhere in my neighborhood.

Need to pick up a calendar for next year, is the thought, a good enough reason to get me out of the apartment and down to the local book store. Maybe on to somewhere else after. Feel pretty good, so far, the head clear, the sinus-upper palate behaving, the vision clear. Another entry into the breakfast list: what I ate and how did that turn out after. We'll need many more before we can make any decisions.

Later. A walk to the book store to buy a 2019 calendar, settling on another by the cartoonish B. Kliban. Like Kliban's work, had some very slight contact with him way back when. A fairly long walk, the head clear, a note in the breakfast log: waffles with bananas and strawberries, even with the butter and syrup, seem to be OK. You'd hope, anyway.

Evening. More episodes of Narcos - Mexico, a call to the bank to figure out how to receive a payment sent from Canada on a cell phone that's introduced me to another digital area I've certainly heard of, but not dealt with before. Oh, and a nap to prepare us for another Friday night, here in Oakland.

The photograph was taken Saturday at the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation Holiday Express event in Portland with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 24 - 70mm f 2.8 Nikkor G lens.
