December 20, 2018

Retired

Thursday. A relatively uneven night's sleep to awaken at six-fifteen though, right on target and so up on a low overcast but not overly cold morning to walk to breakfast, the eyes not watering much and arriving to find the restaurant open and another day underway.

Had the ground beef patty, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, not finishing the papers until nine. Heading out the door I took the usual picture of the gas station, but again, didn't notice the price had increased again, missing this now for the third or fourth time in a row.

Doesn't look like that's going to stop.

Well again, who knows? I've never been this old before. Maybe the brain rattles around, yes, but bounces up as well as down.

A walk along the sidewalk as always, but crossing to the other side of Grand and heading over to the post office to drop yesterday's card in their sidewalk box. Should get there by Monday.

They won't be delivering mail on Christmas Eve Monday.

Well, there by Saturday then. We're done. It's in the mail.

Scooters scattered all over the sidewalks walking home, still the low lying clouds, the temperature good for this early in the morning. Have no plans for the day other than to take care of one last minute Christmas related task and then we're done.

Except for the babbling.

Like a free range chicken.

 ??

Later. Some time on the tablet and listening to the various news programs I have running for most days, no thought to go out, but completing that last minute Christmas task. Feel pretty good, relatively clear headed, at least hunkered down here inside and not doing any running around.

Evening. Creepy how taking a look at something for sale on a web site one minute will bring up ads for that same product you'd just looked at when you dial into a news site ten minutes later. I obviously don't pay any attention to what I say here or elsewhere on the web, but if I were still working I'd think about it a lot harder knowing how much of what you do and say is available to your company's HR department. If I knew better I'd probably be more careful here being retired.

The photo up top was taken while walking home from breakfast this morning with a Nikon 1 V3 mounted with a 30-110mm
f 3.8-5.6 Nikon 1 Nikkor lens.
