Six

Wednesday. Lights out early, awakening on and off starting at four-thirty, to turn the lights on at well before six and so dawdle along getting ready to head out for breakfast finally at six forty-five, right on target.

Cold, but clear this morning, the eyes watering, but arriving to find the restaurant open at seven (and note regular gas prices had fallen by four cents a gallon, a sign the head was screwed together properly) and so settled in with the papers. Had the two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee again, the weight two pounds over target on the scale, but we'll have taken care of that by the end of the week. Or weekend. Or year.

Set out for home at eight forty-five in bright sun to take the usual set of pictures on the way, the usual scooter snapshots and the usual selfie in the apartment lobby as I waited on the elevator to arrive.

Certainly things have started better than they did yesterday and I'm up for an ATM run and maybe looking around the City Center for the first time in a while.

Later. Bright sun, but still cold, and so a bus to the Broadway ATM and then a swing back to the bus stop to check the posted schedule and seeing that they'd changed the scheduled times and I had a full fifteen minutes before the next bus was due to arrive. OK, a quick walk over to the Webster and then the Valdez construction sites to take the usual three pictures and then back to Grand to take a snapshot of the Stomper In The Town statue if only because I had more than enough time before the bus was due to arrive.

Took the bus, the day going quite well, to arrive home at noon, running into the mail man at my apartment house front door. He was just starting to fill the apartment mail boxes in the lobby, so I took the stairs to my apartment and then returned to pick up the mail to find a “missed delivery” card saying I needed to arrange another delivery date or pick the package up the package I'd missed after noon tomorrow. Crap. Not sure what it is. I have two packages coming, but the first isn't due until Friday and I'm not sure about the second as I have yet to received a shipment date.

You're just pissed because you're going to have to make the effort to go out and get it tomorrow.

I do keep saying I need to get more walking in.

Evening. Again, a good clear headed day and now continuing into the evening. Whatever happens we'll turn the lights out no sooner than ten, see if we can't sleep straight through until at least six.

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 Oakland Holiday Parade with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
