Quit My Day Job?
I liked the animated gif, so I hung it up from the ceiling under the title. This is Friday, the sun has been shining and I'm feeling a little frisky for an old fart. I'm not sure what the little dots are supposed to be flying about the fan. They don't seem to indicate motion, although that's what I suspect the creator of the gif intended, but dust, maybe, or little bitty flies.

I followed some links today that ended up at an investment advice column about retirement. They said, essentially, forget it. The comment was, however, not that we would have to work forever at some job we didn't like, but rather we'd end up taking jobs we wanted to do whether they be in commerce or not and that we'd have a series of these jobs (until we got really old and fell apart). I could live with that.

Oakland has a Chinese New Year's parade planned for this Sunday. I hope it doesn't rain. It starts at Jack London Square and I intend to arrive early to shoot them as they prepare to set out. I ran across it by accident last year driving home from the office in the middle of a rain storm. I thought about parking and taking some pictures (I had a camera with me, of course.) but who needs a rain soaked Nikon let alone a rain soaked Sole Prop? I turned up the heater and kept on driving. Do you understand why I don't want to quit my day job?

The banner photograph was taken on the Amtrack Starlight Express last summer in the parlor car. Or was it the summer before last?
