A wedding reception at the Dunsmuir Carriage House

Water With Ice
Thursday. A relapse today having gone, I'm afraid, out to Chevy's in Walnut Creek with three of the usual crew late yesterday afternoon. I was modest in my consumption (more so than my companions, I can tell you) and was home by eight forty-five, but I got into work somewhat late this morning feeling like crap and left for home at noon. A fever, not too bad, a need to crawl into bed and stare at the wall while whatever happens with the immune system happens inside.

Friday. It's Friday evening after two days of fever, chills and sitting on the throne. None of them as bad as I've had in the past - these things do happen - but I realized maybe the chicken and steak fajita we'd shared at Chevy's was the culprit. I was feeling pretty good Wednesday after work when I joined friends in Walnut Creek, the maladies of the last two weeks pretty much gone. Did my friends suffer a similar experience? This is getting old. Sitting here writing is a matter of stealing time when my body isn't too hot or too cold. I have an urge to go out and buy many bottles of lemonade, but I think I'll settle for a more manageable trip to the kitchen for water with ice. Here in Oakland.
