Last Night

Sunday. I'm not sure how early or late I turned out the lights and got to sleep last night. Perhaps, not remembering after returning from breakfast (and a run by the supermarket) means it was reasonably early, but I'm not sure. Still, awake a good hour and a half later than I set the alarm during the week, so some sleep, a good chuck of sleep, last night. I think.

Not too crowded at breakfast in the sense I didn't have to feel guilty arriving late and tying up a table, everyone who arrived after I arrived had their choice of tables, and so another clear sunny day has started. Nothing much at the supermarket, although I did buy some sake and spreadable cheddar cheese. Comfort foods. Playing with fire. We'll see if we're proven stupid later this evening when I'll undoubtedly give both of them a try.

You ate some of the cheese with crackers when you got home.

Not enough for breakfast and I was hungry. But we'll see. We always see, eventually.

Later. A walk to the lake with a long lens on the camera figuring I could get something at least to run for today's photographs. Not much of a walk, there were people circling the lake, but none congregated at the white columned pergola and it was cold, sunny but cold, and I wanted to get back inside. Well, it is early January, cold for California.

Most people would have no sympathy.

I know. You get to living inside your head and truth adjusts to fit the narrow confines.

Jumped back and forth between various movies and TV episodes, none of them all that interesting. There's been what looks to be a very large model railroad exhibition going on over the weekend in Emeryville, something I've debated attending with a camera and macro lens, but have finally given up on the idea. Who knows what the parking would be like? Who knows how the drive would go? Many irrelevant questions invented to fight the idea of going out.

And your New Year's progress?

The bedroom is in good shape. Nice to see the desk clean, the pictures dusted, the carpet in order, those little bits of thread that come off of new socks after they've been washed no longer in evidence. The wrong kind of new socks, is my guess, I need to choose better brands whenever it is I reorder.

Evening. Nothing on television if it can still be said I receive television over the air anymore. I do have various services available through its set top boxes and Internet connection, but those are duplicated on the tablet and I suspect it's better to watch them in bed. As I'm tired. I suspect, should I retire, we'll sleep as well tonight as we did last night and they'll be less to bitch about tomorrow morning.

The photo up top was taken today along Lake Merritt with a Nikon D4s mounted with an 80-400mm f 4.5-5.6 VR Nikkor lens.
