Nine

Sunday. Awoke at five-thirty to then get up at six and prepare to drive to breakfast on this no meter, no walk, Sunday to drive the usual route up to merge with the Highway 580 exit at Grand to find a police cruiser parked in the middle of the street blocking the way with all its lights flashing. OK, turn around and drive down Euclid to Grand at the bottom of my hill to turn left at the light and find police cars blocking the way by the fitness center, again with lights flashing, no cars allowed.

At this point the mind went stupid, not thinking I could have turned right and gotten around the blocked area on Lakeshore, running up to Mandana and then down to the restaurant, but instead turned around and returned to the apartment to leave the car and walk to Grand reaching the first police car that was parked blocking the way. No access said the man. OK.

Walked back to get the car again and drive to Grand and then turn this time onto Embarcadero to Lakeshore, turn left at Mandana, left again on Grand and park at the restaurant some twenty minutes later than usual. Dumb, but no damage done other than to my ego and having arrived those minutes later. The restaurant was open, the dining area still dark and so turned on the lights and settled in with the papers. Enough for all this early morning excitement please.

Finished up not long after nine and walked to the car to drive to the blocked off area at the 580 Overpass, forced to drive to Lakeshore again and around back to Embarcadero and Grand, arriving to take the selfie and settle in here at the computer. A little different way to start a Sunday.

Later. Tired and so spent the afternoon, first watching the Chiefs-Titans game, switching back and forth to the golf tournament on NBC, then on to the 49'ers and Packers game. Twenty-seven to zip 49'ers as this is being written, hinting at how this game is going to turn out.

Evening. The 49'ers gave up ten points of their lead, but still won handily and so we spent another evening heading to bed early with lights out and radio off not long after nine.

The photograph was taken at yesterday's Oakland Women's March with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 Nikkor VR lens.
