Cut And Run
Thursday. Tired and so right to sleep, although I did get up twice to take a leak. Drinking too much water late in the day? Too much information for a blog? Or just the way the world works at this age? I believe I spent something like a year some time back bitching on and on about getting to sleep to finally went out and buy another mattress set and that seems at least in retrospect to have solved the problem. Something I should do again? They say (in ads trying to sell you mattresses) you should change them every seven or so years.

Anyway, another overcast morning, up after six, off to breakfast and back before eight, yesterday's journal rocky, even though you'd think it would be easier to straighten out as it's relatively short. Maybe buying another mattress would improve my editing. You never know. How many degrees of separation between a comfortable mattress and War And Peace?

Maybe it's not the mattress. Maybe your solution lies in buying, say, another lens.

Bite your miserable tongue!

Later. A short lie down on the bed, not a nap, but what I've been calling a nap, up feeling OK again to take a bus downtown to hit the ATM again (preparing for the trip) and then to walk on to the City Center as it struck noon, lot's of people about, not desire to stay and eat, so another bus back to the morning restaurant to have ice cream and a lemonade. This on top of the cottage cheese and grapes I'd eaten earlier. So not totally wretched, eating all this ice cream, right?

Well, who cares. The afternoon ahead, the day now bright and sunny, the temperature up to, but not yet over, t-shirt weather. The mood is good, even if the sinuses are funky. Sinuses: an epitaph. Who woulda’ thought?

Later still. The packing is done. Good. Well, except for the laptop, but it's close to done and it will be done when I move these death defying thoughts to its hard drive. Ready or not, I'm ready. Really. Soon.

Evening. A Swedish detective series I haven't seen before at six, which I watched. Would probably watch another if it continues next week. I did notice a section at Walden Pond labeled Scandinavian detective stories. Or was it Swedish detective stories? A section as large, if not larger, than the New Mysteries section. I guess the popularity of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy has created an entire branch of the English translation book industry. My, my. The mind flutters.

The cab has been ordered, time to cut and run.

The photo up top was taken Sunday morning after the Trayvon Martin demonstration with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 24-70mm f/2.8 G Nikkor lens.
