In Another Hour
Friday. Slept in for well over an hour this morning, although I got to bed at what I consider my usual time around ten. I guess I needed the sleep. For what little running around I did yesterday compared to my normal day's walking I was tired, both yesterday and now this morning. Maybe the rules governing older age are, well, different.

Up anyway, home after breakfast, planning on heading out for that blood test that was due last Friday, remembering late yesterday I'd forgotten about it. I've done this before, not good, but usually not a problem. Don't want to let it be delayed too long, though, as it would make an unusually stupid epitaph: “he forgot”. Not as bad as “he choked to death doing his laundry”, but close enough on the dumb scale I would think.

Later. For some reason I didn't feel like driving to the lab, so I hopped a bus and then another connecting bus followed by a short walk along auto row to the hospital, had the blood drawn, went by their cafeteria around the corner on the same floor for a small prepackaged ice cream cone picked out of a freezer, headed out the door for a bus passing a group of tables outside a corner café.

Hmm. I've just had an ice cream cone, not a large ice cream cone, you understand, but I went in, bought an ice cream sandwich and a plastic container of mixed fruit suspended in Jello, red Jello, not sure the flavor, and ate it out at one of the tables. I'd had a big breakfast, but I was hungry and said the hell with it. And I was a couple of pounds lighter on the scale this morning. I'm allowed. And still tired. So there.

Home now (of course), thinking of taking a nap. I'm due to meet up with some some of the usual crew later in the city, better, I think, to see if a nap makes a difference, get rid of this tired business. Not feeling down and tired, but tired. Tsk! Tsk!

Later still. OK, we are feeling better. The sun's been out through the afternoon, the temperature is fine, but it's more humid than it's been and uncomfortable here in the apartment. Off to the city in another hour.
