Things Happen

Sunday. To bed and finding it difficult to discover anything I wanted to watch on the tablet so lights out early to awaken after six, feeling a little slow, but reasonably coherent. A drive to and from breakfast, after spending two hours over the papers. You can't read much of three Sunday papers in two hours, but more than enough for one of my mornings. Anyway, overcast, the day has begun. Downtown later, but after a nap.

More information in the Tribune on yesterday's shooting, still not enough to have any real idea what happened, so we'll follow along as it's reported. The guy was asleep, pulled over at the side of a freeway exit, a high traffic exit, with a handgun on the seat beside him. Who pulls over on a freeway exit and goes to sleep with or without a handgun on the seat beside him? Not I, at least until I've got another decade under my belt and my head really is completely fried. All the cops were wearing body cameras. The videos should be interesting if they allow anyone to see them.

Later. The sun came through the overcast early and so up after a nap to talk myself into going downtown to check Latham Square, yes, and to find something for lunch. This “talking myself into” went on for some time before I finally headed out the door and got on a downtown bus to a deserted Latham Square construction area to take a set of pictures and then turn around to catch the bus home, getting off early to have a sandwich at Coffee With A Beat. They make a great tuna fish sandwich. They do. For a small place, half hidden but for their sidewalk tables, they make a really good sandwich.

Anyway, sandwich and coffee out at a sidewalk table noticing the bees, a good hundred or so bees, buzzing high up in the flowering tree right in front of me. The sandwich man didn't know what kind of tree it was, two of them planted in front of the restaurant, and I was clueless, but the bees have been there every year when the trees flower. You don't see very many bees around the lake anymore so pictures were in order. Well, snapshots. No real effort was expended to make them sharper, but nice to see bees anywhere in number.

Back now, the temperature still very nice under the early afternoon sun, we'll undoubtedly put together more apartment house construction site pictures and post them to the web because we're so far behind and there's nothing else going on to divert our attention. We put together one section yesterday, today we'll shoot for two.

Later still. Two more sections for the apartment sites are enough for any afternoon. No chance for a second nap, not tired, but time spent flipping between movies and television episodes on the tablet. Life spent between a computer screen futzing with photographs and watching whatever on an Apple product. What did the man say? Not with a bang, but a whimper?

Now, now.

The mood is good. We're just whinging writing.

Evening. Nothing (again) to watch on television and I suspect I'm pretty much burned out on the tablet. Odd mix of stuff available through Amazon and Netflix. I had no idea how many actors I know well from their really good movies have made really weird movies that I've never heard of before. Where do they show them? I'm just not paying attention?

You're not paying attention.

And thus do such things happen.

The photo up top was taken at the San Francisco 2015 Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
