To Sleep
Wednesday. A long night. Just couldn't get to sleep, awakening a good hour before the alarm to find ways to fiddle about until it was time to head to breakfast. No Times or Tribune, but they had at least arrived later when I got home. And no, I have no idea how any of this sleep or not sleep business works. I did have that shot of whiskey before going to bed (OK, two, we totally caved), but bailed on the tablet and turned out the lights by ten only to watch the hours click along one after another.
I did catch a bus both to and from breakfast, however, as it's raining. Not hard, but a real rain where everyone I passed on the street was carrying an umbrella.
While you were carrying a camera.
I'd been smart enough to bring along a plastic bag to protect it from the rain if it became necessary, but that's why I had no second thoughts about taking the bus. It's now ten and I've been lying down listening to the radio for the last hour without being able to sleep. Actually feel pretty good, better certainly than I did yesterday morning about this time, and yesterday I'd had what I thought was a good long night's rest.
Later. It's been a reasonably clear headed upbeat day with much getting done. Didn't shoot any pictures at Latham Square or at the apartment house construction site, but they can lose a day without the world coming to an end.
A walk to the 7-11 look-alike for an ice cream bar and two of the one liter bottles of Diet Coke. Haven't bought any of that for a while. I find I like to pour a glass now and again when it's warm and maybe picking it up was a vote for the idea we're finally heading back into a summer. It's been raining much of the day and so the lack of ambition to get out and take the usual pictures, but now that it's late afternoon the rain has stopped and they're saying fair weather coming.
You're expected to say something about the drought and how we need rain.
True. Not enough rain today to make any difference, unfortunately, but then I think most of us here have written off the rest of the year. Wouldn't mind being wrong.
I did put together the first two sections of photographs I've done on the Latham Square Broadway-Telegraph roadwork project and posted them to HereInOakland and artandlife, which again, is a sure sign I'm feeling fine. No naps, not tired, web pages finished and posted. My, my. Life in the fast lane, all wired on Diet Coke as we approach another Wednesday evening.
Evening. I had seen the Death In Paradise episode at eight before and remembered who done it, what was done and why. My, my. Lights out before ten and then - who knows? - to sleep?
