Smart

Friday. Lights out not long after nine to awaken at ten to six. Twenty minutes early, if I were to set the alarm for the wakeup time I wanted, but up to check what had happened with the British election (I liked the outcome) and get ready to head to breakfast, descending the stairs just as the East Bay Times delivery car pulled up in front of the apartment house and tossed its papers at our front door.

So good, off to breakfast on another overcast, but they're saying no rain, morning, with all three papers in tow. A little slow starting out, as I've been more than a little slow in setting out these last several days, but the world had pretty much come together by the time I arrived to have the Eggs Benedict breakfast and read the papers. Success.

The walk home, taking one or two pictures. Overcast still, but again, feeling pretty good in comparison with these last couple of days. Not sure there's anything going on today that will lure me outside, but we'll at least check and think about it. Briefly.

Later. A bus to the Broadway ATM and then a bus right back. Sometimes you make the connection to the return bus and sometimes you don't. Today we did with a minute to spare.

And that's been it. Feel pretty good, none of yesterday's up and downs. Thought about going over to the lake with a long lens on the camera, but it looked pretty bare of birds when I checked getting off the bus.

Evening. Another short walk over to the lake, taking one or two pictures (attempting to take one or two pictures) of flying gulls with a long lens on the camera, discovering I was unable to center the bird in the picture in the way I was taking the shots. So we'll make changes and try again, and then again, if we must.

Home to watch this and that on television to end the day pretty much as these days tend to end: television, some of which I paid attention to; and the tablet, where I'm finding it harder and harder to find anything I want to watch. Probably means I should get off my ass and find new not yet mind numbing routines. Probably. If I were smart.

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
