Too Late

Friday. Relatively cool last night and so slept with the bedroom windows wide open (with the curtains drawn) to get what I'm again guessing was a good night's rest. No “I'm tired” flashes yet this morning and so that might well be the case. That hasn't been the case these last couple of days and the naps began knocking by about now.

Overcast and cool, the sun out before ten and so set out at six-thirty in t-shirt and light jacket (sans East Bay Times) to walk to breakfast, the eyes watering in the cooler weather, but otherwise fine.

The oatmeal, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, finally back just under one-fifty on the scale this morning. My trips to the supermarket after breakfast usually end up with my putting on a couple of pounds that stay for the following week. Not quite a week so far, but we're back. Just saying, not really a tussle, more just allowing time to allow it to happen. Obviously not true in my past.

You do go on and on about it, though.

Not totally surprised the weight would go down, but surprised at how easy it seems to have been. Makes me wonder if there's an obvious subtext I'm not seeing.

So, breakfast, noting the gas station sign had been turned back on and so a picture, a couple of more pictures of the usual suspects walking home and one to note a food program sign on the entrance gate to the Lakeview school.

The three PBS stations continued to be blank this morning, but I couldn't find anything on the web that indicated there was a problem at their end. Still, why were these three the only ones not displaying on my set? Then, trying again after ten, all three came through just fine. One of life's little mysteries.

Later. A walk over to the lake just before noon with a long lens on the camera and wearing a long sleeved shirt, the temperature just right in the sun, cooler in the shade with the breeze. Not a whole lot of birds on the lake and didn't see any cormorants diving for nesting materials, but took pictures of the one cormorant I did find as well as one of the many geese that have been arriving recently for their summer moulting season.

Didn't stay by the lake for very long to await the arrival of more birds, but it was at least nice to get outside. Back to the apartment to process the pictures and listen to Law & Order episodes as well as continuing with the Korean episodes in bed on the tablet. A weird series that has absorbed my interest to the point that I continued watching right through the PBS News Hour this afternoon. A first.

Evening. More television, more tablet. Tired of television, tired of the tablet and so to bed. Early this time, we'll see how that translates to when we awaken tomorrow morning. Too soon? Too late?

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR Nikkor lens.
