Here In Oakland

Art & Life

June 5, 2018

Out

Tuesday. A bit uneven, the sleep last night, but not too bad to then awaken at six-fifteen, right on target. If it can be said I have a target when I don't set an alarm. Up and out the door on what looks to become a sunny day, as there are clouds up there now, but a decent, eyes watering, not too bad walk to breakfast.

Had the two strips of bacon, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast this election day. In reading, after I'd sent in my ballot, I discovered I'd made two errors in my voting choices. Fuzzy thinking? Not doing what's required to figure all of the ballot questions out? Probably. I suspect life will not end, but these are not mistakes I'd have allowed in the past.

The usual walk home under a bright sun, another pandorea photograph, a shot through the pet store window, of the Lakeshore school flowers and then of a line of Lime scooters set out in a row by the Lake Merritt white column pergola. San Francisco has demanded they get their various scooter brands off their streets until some kind of licensing agreement is worked out. Not so Oakland.

Need to go by an ATM later today and so we'll at least get our nose out the door again before the day is over.

Later. Finished the web pages and the first section's thumbnail photos that link to the photographs underneath by one this afternoon. Figured it best to go by the ATM so I could get back to the apartment by the time the news programs started at two and so a bus to the Broadway ATM, a swing by the apartment house construction sites on Webster, 23rd and Valdez before walking back to the apartment, picking up an ice cream sandwich from the 7-11 look-alike on the way.

Finished the thumbnails while listening to the news and then posted two sections to HereInOakland. We'll convert the pages and post them to artandlife later. Maybe much later.

Later still. Had to reboot the tablet again to fix the download speed as you could get into Facebook and the news sites, but none of the movie/video sites. No big deal, really, but it took me too much time (as of late yesterday) to remember rebooting the thing had been the solution in the past. Why had I trouble-shot everything else before I'd remembered to reboot?

Do you really have to ask?

No, but it's a pain in the ass.

Evening. Channel 36 seems to be covering the election, but maybe better to read the results in the papers tomorrow if there are definitive results by their various deadlines.

Otherwise watched a Japanese thing on the tablet. Well, watched the beginning of two of them before giving up. It's after nine, time for lights out.

Saturday at the Oakland Sex Workers Protest taken with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
