Wednesday morning waiting for the bus in Oakland

March 9th, 2005

Yes I Do
The middle of the week, a Wednesday: lunch with MSV at the local Indian restaurant (an excellent lunch), some productivity on my part on the job today - only some, you understand - the day warm, the sun warm, the morning foggy (as you can see) and the week half finished. Here in Oakland.

Have you ever considered this “Here in Oakland” thing is getting old?

Of course, of course, but when you've popped for www.HereInOakland.com and www.ThereInOakland.com, you give yourself little pep talks. Nothing up on the web, yet, of course, nothing really in mind. The one project I've been thinking about and noodling with a bit is a little online newspaper thingie: a couple of designs, a download of one or two fonts from Adobe to see what I can do to make it look right. A newspaper with a single issue, a single page (maybe) with no deadlines, no follow ups, nada but the first issue. I've done these in the past in the real world. Cheaper to do it online, let me tell you: more fun, less energy, more time to fit in the important things in life like sleep and paying the rent on time.

You do go on.

I was asked over lunch if it took me much time to conjure up an entry. How long did it take to write this bundle of joy, for example? Sometimes it takes forever, sometimes it comes with little or no effort or invitation. Most of the time what comes out seems, well, trivial or repetitive or whatever, but I keep coming back, now, don't I. Yes I do. (Here in Oakland.)

The photograph was taken Wednesday morning waiting for a bus in the Lake Merritt area of Oakland with a Nikon D2h mounted with a 17-55mm f2.8 Nikkor lens at 1/200th second, f 3.5 at ISO 200.
