Interesting Day

Sunday. I did start The Seven Samurai last night, finally settling on watching a movie I had on the shelves and hadn't watched in a while. In a long while. Been a while. So good. To bed and lights out before ten awakening the usual two times during the night to then awaken and get up without an alarm at seven. So good. A decent night's sleep. Reasonably clear headed, the day nice, maybe do something a little different for a change. Small chance, but some chance in that.

Later. Seventy-three here by the lake as it approaches two in the afternoon, sitting here with the sliding glass door open to the balcony and the fan turned on low. Adds a certain level of drama when you've just finished reading all the climate warming articles in today's Sunday papers. It does.

I did lie down for a while, but no naps were in the offing, a walk then to the 7-11 look-alike to buy an ice cream bar and a box of Good & Plenty to make up for skipping them yesterday. Well, the Good & Plenty. By the apartment house construction site on the way to and back, a walk down along the lake to see who was drumming in the early afternoon, found these folks working out. First time I've seen them practicing here on a weekend.

No thought to go downtown, some thought to go by Jack London Square to see what they're up to on a Sunday, but little chance I'll follow through. Didn't go to the demonstration at 14th and Broadway last night either, although I've not heard if the thing actually got itself together. There is the Saint Stupid's Day Parade in San Francisco on Wednesday, so something to look forward to for pictures.

Later still. It's been over a month since I've had an ocular event and that just now was an ocular event, lying down on the bed to watch a movie on the tablet and noting that same sparkly blob when the eyes are closed and then the movie dissolving as I watched to the point I suspect I was asleep or not quite conscious through most of it. OK, an ocular event. Turned off the tablet and slept for however long. An hour or two. Don't know.

I did have two strips of bacon this morning with breakfast, the chocolate coated ice cream bar later for lunch, both items on the forbidden list. Who knows? I've been hoping this pill they prescribed had taken care of the ocular stuff and it has now for over a month, but maybe one or two will now and again find their way through. Let's hope it's no more than that. There are worse things in the world, believe me, but no need to encourage them just because they're not totally debilitating. Right?

We seem a bit scattered here.

You would too.

Evening. I'd forgotten I'd started The Seven Samurai yesterday and so watched it for another hour. I'd forgotten some of the smaller interludes, but recognized them immediately as they played. Won't need to watch this again for a while, probably a long while, but we're close to the end and we'll finish watching it tomorrow. Now to bed. Been, if not a long, then an interesting day.

The photo up top was taken at the Oakland Running Festival with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
