Brain To Start

Tuesday. A reasonably good night's sleep last night: to bed early, as I recall, up at six before the alarm. A walk then to breakfast and the papers, the car in the shop, a walk back home just after eight in a light fog. They're saying it will clear later in the morning, with a high here in Oakland of sixty-nine, which is fine. The week is off to a good start.

In the “I continue to be on top of things” department: There's a small sliding switch on the side of the iPhone that (I learn in looking at the manual) puts the phone in vibrate mode. When the little red background shows it's in vibrate mode. Which is probably why I've been missing calls lately. I'd think. Takes time to get your head around these newfangled contraptions, does it not? Not? Rather like parking your car without banging into the guy on the right? I'd think.

Later. A bus downtown to sit out at a table in the middle of the City Center and, well, do what I always do. Watch. The people. Pretty exciting for a Tuesday was my thought. A walk then back to Grand to wait on a bus, a picture of a flower hanging out over the sidewalk with a bunch of his (her) brothers and sisters. Lets see, something about pistils and stamens, I seem to remember they're a bit of both: boys and girls, men and women, whatevers and whatevers. The memory isn't totally gone, it's just, well shedding.

I'm guessing a walk like today's isn't what I should be doing for my first day (or afternoon) with the new 24 - 120mm lens, due to arrive tomorrow. Actually, my thought has nothing to do with the lens, but rather my lack of ambition and energy going out today. The sun is out, the temperature good (as advertised), why such a, well, not gloomy, but laid back attitude? “The British are coming! The British are coming!” Yeah. Whatever.

But we are treading old water here. Something different for tomorrow, though. Can't be too hard, although I'm not sure what. I won't have the car until Friday, but BART is still waiting down the street, and there are places other than San Francisco on its route. That condominium still on the market near the Fruitvale station? Why not take a ride and then a walk?

Because you say this every week and then never do it.

That's probably a factor. We'll see. It's Tuesday. Much too early yet for the brain to start.

The photograph was taken of a fellow on Market near 3rd in San Francisco with a Nikon D3 mounted with a 24 - 70mm f 2.8 Nikkor G lens.
