Fire With Fire
Friday. Calling to cancel out on the meet at Harrington's late yesterday afternoon it was decided we'd meet a Roy's just down the way instead, so I headed out for Roy's around four-thirty to meet with the usual crew. A good evening of Guinness and the second game of the series, who would have thought the Giants would win with a blowout nine runs to none? But I haven't been following the game until just now and any opinions I might have come from what little I've read in the papers and heard during the games.
What does that mean?
It means enough baseball for the morning, almost anyone out there knows more about it than I. We'll see what happens in Texas come Saturday afternoon and not talk about it then.
To breakfast an hour later than usual. I got in last night before nine feeling no pain, futzed with this and that for a while and then got to bed at a reasonable time. I'd had my share of Guinness, so the evening and maybe even this morning have been a bit slower than I'd like to admit, but nothing important enough to do more than note in passing. A doctor's appointment down the peninsula at eleven-thirty to go over the ocular migraines and then the day is clear. Nap time when I get back if I'm reading things right. That and a little guitar practice.
Later. This one dragged itself out. It's fifty miles to my neurologist's office, so it was an hour's drive down and then an hour's drive back. It just so happened he was running over an hour late when I arrived - the woman ahead of me mentioned this was not unusual - so it took four hours out of the middle of the day, leaving at ten-thirty, returning after two. Doodle-dee-do.
And, having a new prescription from the neurologist, the magic pill designed to help with the upper palate ache that he'd suggested we try after we got the ocular migraines in better focus, and a second renewal prescription from last week that now needed filling, I set out on the bus for the downtown pharmacy, getting the prescriptions filled and, while waiting, walked the three blocks to buy a bus pass for the coming month, home finally after four. Tuckered me out. More than I like to do in one day. Hey. In Oakland.
So, early evening: we'll watch the news, take a nap, play the guitar, take another nap and go to bed early. I think. Fight fire with fire.
