Series

Monday. I didn't stay up to watch the last innings of the game last night, but turned off the television and went to bed, feeling really tired and finding that the sparkly thing was forming when I closed my left eye. Thought briefly about what I'd eaten since breakfast, I'd blamed the Crab Cake Benedict for the morning episode, but couldn't think of anything suspicious I'd eaten since. So to bed and to sleep pretty much right away to awaken then at five-thirty. Still quite a bit of sleep, even with awakening half an hour early.

I'd noted quite a few sirens in the distance when I awoke, too many for just an ambulance, maybe an ambulance and a fire truck, although there appeared to be even more? The police chasing somebody? Ah, well. It happens. Up to shave and get ready to walk to breakfast, no rain I could see outside the bedroom window. A helicopter was hovering over the lake as I was walking, perhaps they had been chasing somebody after all when I heard those sirens.

The fellow who opens the restaurant asked if I'd seen the fire across Lake Merritt coming in, he'd been watching the smoke rising in the distance over the Grand Lake theater earlier and heard there was a building on fire. So much for ambulances or cops chasing bad guys, so much for any awareness of my surroundings as I was walking to breakfast. Did I miss a picture? The excitement for the day and I didn't even notice?

The sun came out on the way home, a picture or two as I was walking, no sign of crisped buildings over across the lake beyond Lakeshore. Can't complain, though. Lots of sleep yesterday and last night, scrambled eggs and country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee are not going to cause an ocular incident this morning (please), the sun is shining and there's a day ahead. So good. Halloween has started.

Oh, and the Cubs won the game last night.

Later. A bus to the ATM on Broadway and then a walk back to the apartment feeling good, happy enough to have missed the return bus by a minute and so getting in another walk. Stopped at the 7-11 look-alike for an ice cream bar, but they were out of ice cream bars (as they'd been out the last time I'd gone by) and then the burger drive-in for a grilled chicken sandwich, but found a line and decided I really wasn't particularly hungry and left. I do that now more often, enter and then leave at the slightest provocation, not sure what it may mean. Imply.

Scratched my head after watching last night's Elementary on the tablet in the bedroom this afternoon and then followed along with the just released Leonardo DiCaprio Climate film, stumbling across it on the web. Leonardo with me is preaching to the choir. So good. Nice day, good energy and, remembering yesterday, no complaints.

Evening. Watched the half of Democracy Now I'd missed this morning on the radio and decided to watch the first of the three interviews on Charlie Rose at eight before going to bed and taking up the tablet to see if I couldn't get into Goliath, an Amazon series.

The photo up top was taken at the 2015 Fruitvale Dia de los Muertos Street Festival with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
