Art & Life

October 9, 2019

Time

Wednesday. Lights out and radio off early enough, but another awaken (sort of awaken) at five to then awaken for good just before six in time to (sort of listen) to the KPFA five minute before the hour news and then Democracy Now! that followed to learn that they were planning on cutting off the power near my location at noon today. OK.

Out the door to walk to breakfast, passing by this long pile of trash on the sidewalk just beyond the fitness club, the question being where did it come from? The building they've been gutting was some distance behind me, far enough to make me think it didn't come from there and so scratched my head and walked on, arriving at five minutes to seven to find the restaurant open and people inside.

The avocado omelet, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast. They left out the mushrooms, but life will not end over mushrooms and so didn't mention it. Finished up before nine to set out under a sunny sky for home, the street construction I mentioned I'd forgotten to photograph yesterday obviously finished, certainly this morning and yesterday morning as well and so that's why I hadn't noticed then to take a pictures.

Which means in the scheme of things?

The memory isn't totally shot, just ailing.

On, taking a picture of a (difficult to see in the image) store window along the way, why anyone would scribble in-comprehensively on it a mystery (to me), another of a woman on a Lime scooter at the light under the 580 Overpass, that trash in better light and a shot of a Lyft scooter on the sidewalk by the lake. I skip the scooters when no one can be included in the photograph, if that makes any sense.

Home to take the selfie and then finish and post yesterday's entry. A haircut appointment coming up at eleven-thirty, an excuse to get me out for another if only short walk (and to take care of this now unruly hair).

Later. The news is saying they've delayed cutting the power here in Oakland from noon until eight this evening, my own area not part of the shut down and so this day is like most days around here after a ten minute walk to get the haircut, returning half an hour later.

Evening. Checked out Midsomer Murders at eight to learn I'd seen it before, didn't remember who'd done the evil deed, but didn't care and so turned it off and headed for bed to do some reading before lights out at nine-thirty. Better the reading than the tablet (he opined) for the ninety-ninth time.

The photo up top was taken at the 2017 Folsom Street Fair with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
