Pandemic

"Friday To sleep at a reasonable time (I'm thinking) to awaken too early at five forty-five, but happily without more than a hint of the sore chest to get up finally after seven and drive to breakfast again, thinking what looked like fog outside was really a mixture containing smoke. Checking the web when I got back all of Oakland was listed as Unhealthy For All and so smoke was present. Too much smoke.

Arrived at the restaurant to find all the tables and chairs in place and so settled in with the papers. Again, it looked foggy and I couldn't really smell smoke or feel it in the lungs and so ordered the plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee, finishing up just after nine to walk to the car, take the usual picture of the succulent set out on the restaurant patio railing and drive straight home to take the selfie (a haircut finally later this morning), settle in at the computer and end up here.

Later. Feeling tired and a little dizzy, but walked to the barbershop and arrived five minutes before my appointment to be told my appointment had been scheduled for yesterday, did I want to make another? I did and we agreed on next Tuesday at nine-thirty, thinking I'd get it done while walking home from breakfast.

Walked back home and lied down for an hour to let the tiredness and dizziness go away. I'd made the appointment yesterday morning when returning from breakfast and indeed we had made the appointment for eleven-thirty today (I'd written it in on my calendar yesterday first thing when I gotten home) and so I'm not sure what happened there. My barber hadn't been present when I arrived today, maybe just an odd way to duck blame for her not showing up?

The Air Quality Index has remained at Unhealthy For All through the afternoon and the weather people are saying through the weekend too and probably beyond. Not sure what that means for going to breakfast in the mornings. Sitting out on a patio for an hour and a half (not counting travel) is probably not the best use of one's time. Or one's lungs. We'll see.

Evening. A high of seventy-three today although not much sun. Watched more of the Danish Borgen series in bed on the tablet, got up at eight to see what Detective Morse might be about. Thought I'd probably seen this episode before, but can't swear to it, got tired before it was over and so went to bed not long after nine, finishing with the six minute ten o'clock NPR news and that was my evening, much like all the others have been in this pandemic.

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
