Oregon

Sunday, the 3rd. Awoke at six after getting to sleep not long after ten. Early, but I'm guessing enough sleep. The sister has another swimming meet today, five contests this time after the four she participated in yesterday, and so wished her well when she descended the stairs to the kitchen while I was eating breakfast at seven. Cheerios with the usual orange juice, coffee and a banana for breakfast this time.

Tuesday, the 5th. Ran out of gas on Sunday, but up this Tuesday morning to have the usual breakfast at seven (Special K Red Berries this time) and then scooting back up the stairs to lie down for a while before heading out the door for a twenty minute walk around the neighborhood before returning and to lie down on the bed again and chill for about five minutes. Lying on the bed seems to be the common denominator around here anymore.

Monday, the 11th. Up well before seven to find it snowing, an inch or so of snow on the ground. OK. Wasn't expecting snow this late in the year here in Oregon. Up to have the usual breakfast and then set out to take some pictures. Didn't walk outside very long or very far worrying about old guys on slippery snow sitting on cement.

Otherwise another day. It's been twelve days since I ordered replacement glasses at Costco, was planning on going to Costco this morning to see if they'd arrived, but this snow will put that off until tomorrow. Same with the daily walk that hasn't exactly become “daily” to date, but we're working on it.

Later. The last time there was snow that stuck to the ground in Portland this late in April was in 1903. It's the first time in eighty-three years that snow has stuck on the ground at the Portland airport since they started testing. It's late afternoon, the sun is shining and the snow is essentially gone, but I'd have to say an interesting morning, here in Oregon.
