Middle Of The
Tuesday. I know, I need an editor. Too much blather. It gets out of hand. Still, we're working on it.

Let's see: the camera and lens arrived yesterday, the lens in fine shape, the camera unable to auto focus. Not good. I shipped it back to Nikon this morning on their dime and I assume I'll have it in hand again by the beginning of next week. The lens was the more important component, I actually use it in a lot of my shooting.

What else? The CD label printing software arrived yesterday and it works just fine, thank you. I don't print labels, as such, but print directly on blank “printable” CD's and DVD's in four color and they look great. I think they look great. The DVD writer I have attached to the main computer then up and failed in the middle of a session (what else was waiting to fail?), but I'll get that replaced later today down at the local computer store. As it happens I'd burned a number of DVD's and put them aside for when the label software arrived, so I have plenty to keep me busy.

Last point: I went to bed early last night, got to sleep, but then woke up around two and coughed for about an hour. Still, I awoke this morning at nine and I've just gotten back from breakfast (and dropping off the camera at UPS), so the day is starting three hours later than usual. In my past, when I was writing, I wrote in the mornings, but kept artist's hours in the sense I never called anyone at home or their studio before noon. You can get a lot done in the late evenings, maybe I can try something like that. We'll see, my head isn't very clear after about noon. Maybe an appointment for the annual physical today, this cough is not getting any better.

Later. This day is going quickly enough. Some DVD printing, ordering another firewire DVD burner over the web from LaCie (yes, the one that failed was a LaCie burner, but I realize I've probably helped fry it over the years by leaving it on all the time and not turning it off after I'd finished using it), some continued cleaning up of old CD's and such, filing those I need to keep, tossing those that should have never been kept in the first place. A good Tuesday. We'll skip the photography soliloquies. Even I've had enough. The fan is on, the day is overly warm and maybe the evening will allow another good eight or more hours, but without the coughing in the middle of the night.

The photograph was taken at the Oakland 2009 Art & Soul Festival with a Nikon D3 mounted with a 24 - 70mm f 2.8 Nikkor lens at f 2.8 at 1/1600th second, ISO 200.
