A studio session in Emeryville

April 19th, 2006

At Least
Wednesday. I've had three different people contact me to ask if I would be interested in selling my old nbbc.com domain. I haven't had it online for some time, it stood for North Bay Business Computers (nbbc) and this journal had its beginning on that site. The Sole Proprietor began as the “Sole Proprietor” of North Bay Business Computers writing a commentary (with some pictures. when I acquired a camera and a film scanner), as I wanted to do something with it since I was no longer selling computers and it morphed into what you see here. Organic, at least, if not overly clever. “Props” were something I learned about later. No complaints. One thing eventually leads to another, I guess, even in Oakland.

I don't see any reason to sell it unless somebody makes an offer that at least seems worth the effort of figuring out what it takes to go through a transfer. In the early days I occasionally got an email that was meant for nbc.com, the occasional marketing plan, but other than those and a bunch of misdirected email meant for students at Northland Baptist Bible College (nbbc.edu), it's never had a lot of sizzle.

There's an organization in Washington called the National Black Business Council, but that's about it for big time nbbc letter combinations in the market at the moment. What would you do? I own cameras that once cost a lot of money and now, with the decline of film, really aren't worth all that much. Why sell them? They're family. Somebody wants a Nikon F5, well I've got a couple, but why give them away when you never know when you might not need one in a dicey situation; why sell them for peanuts? Unless you're hungry and the rent is due and peanuts are of increasing interest. Same with my nbbc domain. Don't know what to do. Not going to worry about it.

The weather, by the way, is back to California standard. God is in his heaven and I am in California and that means all is right with the world (and the universe, one suspecting that god works within a somewhat broader horizon). If He or She or It is responsible for leading me to California then I owe a debt of gratitude or, if not gratitude, then Capitalization at least.

The photograph was taken at a studio session in Emeryville with a Nikon D2x mounted with a 17-55mm 2.8 Nikkor lens at 1/80th second, f 2.8, ISO 100.
