Barely

Thursday. Light out after nine, awakening at ten to six. So good, awoke but once for a short period during the night. Off to breakfast under clear skies, the eyes watering, the attitude good.

The French toast with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, two pounds over the target on the scale this morning, now working on one. Sunny walking home taking the usual pictures to look at yesterday's entry with some horror, but this has become more common and so maybe best not to freak out. Accept the ups and downs.

I have some things to do with this failed computer to prepare for the arrival of the new controller card. Hope they're able to shave a day off the delivery as they did with the last card and it arrives tomorrow, but let's prepare in case we luck out. Pictures to take over the weekend.

Later. A bus to the Broadway ATM, a walk back to the bus stop. I had a camera in the backpack, but felt less than clear headed (the head in a bubble again) and so skipped any thought of taking pictures and caught the bus to the burger drive-in to pick up a grilled chicken sandwich to take home. Haven't had their grilled chicken sandwich in a while.

Checked each of the four failed computer hard drives again for data, one of them showing an empty C:/Recovery folder and so I'm assuming the drive is hosed. At least I've checked, we'll see what happens when that controller arrives.

Still sunny, but in the mid-sixties. Could be warmer. Sitting now listening to the news. Life in the fast lane.

Evening. Received a copy of the Dave Sheridan book in the mail today from the editor and they did include my short contribution. Reads OK, but it's too much about what I was up to, how I met him, too little on our work on the Rip Off Review and too few anecdotes about Dave during those times. Still, what would I have added? Well. Enough. Many others who knew him better contributed, not to mention pages of his work. Wasn't sure how it would look, but it's turned out to be a good book.

Watched the Benedict Cumberbatch episode of Sherlock Holmes - The Abominable Bride at eight, one I've seen before. Cumberbatch has done some really good work as an actor, but I've found it difficult to appreciate the story lines of these Sherlock Holmes pieces. This one had an interesting and off the wall aspect I hadn't noticed the first time around, the treatment of women in the period, and that kept me watching, but just barely. Well, maybe a little more than barely.

Last year's Saint Stupid's Day Parade taken with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
