Today

Saturday. To bed and to sleep early last night to awaken finally for good at just after six to get up and head out to breakfast on what is a clear and soon to be sunny morning, a picture or two along the way of the deserted streets. Everyone opens an hour or two later on weekends.

The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast. I'd like to say I was making sure there'd be no ocular symptoms later with the Chinatown StreetFest, but the brain was off and it was simply all I could think of that I was willing to eat. “No toying about with cured meats” might have surfaced if I'd seriously considered bacon or a forbidden cheese.

The sun shining walking home, no problem deciding to continue walking when a bus arrived at a stop where I was standing, waiting on the light to change (a pat on the head here) and home to finish this. Looking forward to ChinaFest. One of the festivals where it takes time and patience to find photographs, but it's close by and runs through tomorrow if we don't get enough photos today. My kind of outing.

Later. They said it was going to be quite a bit warmer today for a change and indeed it was, up in the eighties. Not the best temperature to be running around in the sun with a couple of cameras. Still, a bus to Chinatown, an hour or so of taking pictures, what pictures I could find anyway, and then, totally out of steam, heading over to Washington Street for a sandwich, potato chips and a soft drink out at a sidewalk table. Too warm and too tired to walk back and continue shooting and so a bus home to crash for half an hour before looking over the pictures.

Later still. Processed the pictures. Not nearly enough for a section, but I'll attend tomorrow and see if I can find a way to stay long enough to flesh them out. Let's hope it was the temperature that wore me down today, although they're saying even warmer tomorrow. We'll just bring one camera.

Evening. Nothing on television I haven't seen before, although I did make it a point to check the PBS eight o'clock movie and toyed about watching it for a bit. Tired, of course, interested to see how the day plays out tomorrow. Back to photograph the StreetFest? On what they're saying will be a warmer day than it was today? Hey?

The photo up top was taken at the Oakland Chinatown StreetFest today with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
