Pictures

Sunday. To sleep before ten. I think. Awakening, anyway, at five-thirty to get up at six and prepare to drive to breakfast on another relatively cool and overcast morning, arriving at the restaurant before seven to find it dark and so entering through the dining area door to turn on the lights and settle in with the Sunday papers.

I haven't ordered their Crab cake Benedict in some time and so ordered it today with the country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee, finding it less wonderful than I'd remembered. Maybe just the day and the thought it seemed an awful lot to eat for breakfast, not that any of these breakfasts are small. What the hell, finished up by nine and headed home in the car, not thinking once about going by the supermarket.

Home to take the selfie and settle in at the computer to finish yesterday's entry and post. Realized for the first time the little gas price link up at the left was displaying the wrong price for gas, $3.69 instead of $3.65. When had that changed and why had it taken me so much time to notice it? Went through the images and discovered it had dropped earlier this month on the 7th. OK, we'll do something about that, not that anyone (including me, evidently) pays any attention to it.

The Chronicle noted there'd been a good turn out yesterday for the Oakland Chinatown StreetFest. A hint I should get off my butt and to today?

Later. Packed a camera in the backpack and took the bus to the Chinatown StreetFest at noon, spending about an hour taking pictures. The crowd wasn't as large as I was expecting after reading the description in the Chronicle this morning and an hour wasn't enough time to take a decent series of pictures, but still, I did get out and ran into a photographer friend I'd met some time ago who'd come over from San Francisco and was shooting it for the first time.

A bus home to watch the end of the FedEx tournament on TV before processing what turned out to be ten or eleven usable pictures. Marginally usable pictures. I've found in the past that going to the StreetFest requires going both days and for longer periods to come up with the number needed for an artandlife web section, but again, at least I got out the door and got some exercise in.

Evening. To bed by eight, having skipped pretty much everything on television after the golf tournament ended and, finding nothing I wanted to continue on the tablet, turned it off, checked out the radio at nine and decided it was time for sleep soon after. Not a bad day, let's see if we can at least duplicate getting out the door this coming week and maybe take some pictures.

The photo up top was taken at the 2017 Oakland Chinatown StreetFest with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
