Midnight

Saturday. To sleep around ten to awaken then at a quarter to six to check for rain and get ready to drive to breakfast. It wasn't raining and about half of the cloud cover looked non-threatening, but the other half was black and glaring and daring me to walk outside. We opted for the car. Arrived at ten minutes to seven, fed the meter and entered the dark restaurant to turn on the dining area lights and settle in with the papers.

The single pork chop, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, taking my time over the papers and not finishing up until about nine to then set out for the car, drive home, take the selfie and settle in here with the journal. No rain, although they're saying it's due later this afternoon through Sunday, and so I'm assuming we'll find stuff to do here inside that doesn't involve actual effort. We have gotten very good at avoiding actual effort.

Later. A walk up the way to the construction site to take the usual series of pictures. With the rain I didn't expect to see any changes, as everything is under what looks to be plastic tarps, but I wanted to get outside, if only for a short while. Started raining as I returned, but than stopped when I got to the door. Still, we'll end up watching the LSU-Georgia football game for the rest of this afternoon as the rain will start again. Soon.

Joe Burrow, the LSU quarterback, is unreal. This from someone who doesn't follow football, doesn't know much of anything about it, but some things even to a dweeb are obvious. Also obvious to the announcers. Other than that it's been raining, generally pretty hard, all through the afternoon.

Evening. Spent the time lying on the bed with the tablet and watching football on television after the LSU-Georgia game, nothing else on television, lights out after nine to take forever getting to sleep. Looking back you wonder: was I awake or just drifting in and out and the night went better than I thought at the time? I suspect I was more awake than not until well after midnight.

The photo up top was taken in December 2017 of the city workers strike at the Oakland City Hall with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 VR Nikkor lens.
