Watching

Monday. Lights out early after burning out on the tablet and finding nothing (as usual) I'm interested in listening to in bed on Sunday night radio and so lights out and sleep. Well, eventually to sleep. Let's just say an uneven night's rest, although I awakened at quarter past six as wide awake as I generally get. OK, wide awake: no complaints. We'll see how the afternoon evolves, whether we find our little self nodding off later or not.

A walk to breakfast on another cold, clear and soon to be sunny day. The gas station sign was dark as I left the café after breakfast and so a couple of photographs. Passed what I assumed was a broken water pipe under the sidewalk walking back along Grand. Hard to see the little spouts of water coming up from under what I assume is an access plate. Pretty exciting stuff in the middle of a drought.

The Iowa caucus this evening. I admit to following it with interest and reading whatever news it generates. This does add excitement to the first day of a new month of a new week, I would think.

Later. A walk to the 7-11 look-alike for that bean dip and bag of Doritos I talked about getting yesterday. Just enough interest in the stuff to get me out the door and back, taking a picture of the now looks to be completed Avévista apartment house from across Grand. If not finished, then close. Really close.

Again, sun, still a bit cold, clear and so a lie down with the tablet to pick up on a movie I'd started watching last night. I do occasionally watch one straight through, but only occasionally. Not sure why.

Evening. An interesting evening watching the vote totals in Iowa, to say the least, watching them grow closer and closer well over more than three hours, seeing how it ended between Clinton and Sanders, listening to the pundits try to explain what was going on. I wouldn't try, although I too am wondering, watching, here in Oakland.

The photo up top was taken at the March For Bernie gathering at Lake Merritt last month with a Nikon D4s mounted with an 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
