The Tablet

Sunday. Lights out by ten, again: good. Up at six: less good. Still, wide awake, nice looking day and so a drive to breakfast to read the Sunday papers for some two plus hours, returning home to think about heading over to San Francisco later to see what we can see (photograph) at this Super Bowl thing in front of the Ferry building.

And the chances you'll actually go?

Not good, I admit that, but it may allow/force me to substitute another place to save face. Maybe a place I once blithely visited without a second thought will call out. Might.

Right.

Later. Out the door and over to the lake, turning right around again to come back to the apartment. Bright sun, but cold. Really cold. Seems warmer as the afternoon has progressed, at least that's what it says on the local weather site, but I haven't stuck my nose outside to confirm the fact. Bright sun, cold air. But I've mentioned that.

Pull it together.

OK, another walk thinking I could talk myself into picking up some bean dip and Doritos at the 7-11 look-alike. Nothing else, including a chicken sandwich, elicited any interest. Even then it was going to be a hard sell. Warmer, but still cool, bright sun, lots of people out walking. A picture of the anti-war group approaching from the white column pergola on the sidewalk, they've been walking the lake every Sunday at three in the afternoon now since I can remember, the couple who lead the group residing here in an apartment in my building.

And that was it for a walk to pick up bean dip, ending without picking up any bean dip. Odd. Haven't eaten that much today, the usual breakfast, the usual light lunch put together in the kitchen and that's been it. Don't usually eat much for dinner, the weight a couple of pounds below target on the scale when I got up this morning if that had any effect.

Later still. Apropos of nothing I discovered, in trying to move my indoor TV antenna to a position where it would receive a local channel I've not had any luck with reliably receiving in the past, that by taking it off the table and putting it on the rug allows it to receive that station just fine. How long have I been futzing with this thing when all it took was moving it to the floor? Of course I might just as easily have missed trying it when I was younger (which is somehow less embarrassing).

Less embarrassing that you were equally dumb when you were young?

Seems so.

Evening. Watched an older episode of Elementary I haven't seen before (on the channel I can now receive again), but there's nothing on later worth the watching and so to bed. And the tablet.

The photo up top was taken at the March For Bernie gathering at Lake Merritt last Saturday with a Nikon D4s mounted with an 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
