Words

Wednesday. Lights out again before ten to awaken just before six, get up, check the weather (it was raining) and get ready to drive to breakfast. And yes, it was raining. So much for scattered showers today leading up to a really rainy day tomorrow.

Had the single pork chop, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast. Not always up for something this substantial, but I told myself I was hungry, although I could as easily have had the oatmeal.

You seem to focus an awful lot on food, what you eat, what you think about eating. A little obsessive, don't you think?

This is a journal. You note the things you've done in a journal and these days, not much gets done other than eating, sleeping and watching television. Along with the occasional snapshot.

The next door neighbors were standing over their car again when I got home, the new battery they'd bought to replace the defective battery yesterday evidently dead. So another jump start. Wish them well. What kind of new battery dies in its first twenty-four hours?

Later. A bath. How long has it been since I've taken a bath? I don't want to know as even I'm embarrassed. Finished, though, to have the sparkly blob appear in the left eye and the head feel a bit, well, “off”. It went away after lying down for half an hour. Made me wonder if it had something to do with that pork chop this morning. Didn't I have something like this right after the last time I'd had one for breakfast? Curious enough to go back and check earlier entries.

Noon. A very light rain on and off throughout the morning. Watching Law & Order episodes that I've seen before, but don't remember. Remember the first scene when it plays but not the last or many in between.

Later still. I did go through a month or two of earlier entries and found two mentions of the pork chop breakfast, but without any comment on an ocular episode after. So we'll make another chalk mark on the “get a life and stop worrying about this food crap” board. Or stop talking about it.

Still a very light rain out there and so more television in here. A second dose of the pain meds, as the sinuses are behaving badly. Round and round on that. At least there seems a slight placebo effect if not a chemical effect.

Evening. Big breakfast, more than usual for lunch and now, by my lights, a large dinner: spaghetti with clam sauce. Must have been hungry. Comes and goes, this hungry on any given day business.

I'd listened to the last half of Democracy Now! on the bedroom radio while taking the bath and so watched another episode of Law & Order I'd seen before instead. A day today like so many other recent days in other words.

The photo up top was taken at the January 20th Trump protest at Frank Ogawa Plaza with a Nikon D500 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 VR Nikkor lens.
