Night

Tuesday. To sleep before midnight, certainly, not sure how long before. Awakened just before six to take the blood pressure to find it just fine, go back to bed to listen to Democracy Now!, as always, up then to walk to breakfast, arriving at the usual time to enter their indoor dining area, turn on the lights and settle in with all three papers. Not sure why the N.Y. Times showed up along with the Chronicle and East Bay Times, but I'm not complaining.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee, finishing up just after nine to walk home under clear skies and a bright sun taking the usual series of pictures.

Home to take the selfie in the lobby, discover I needed to get right to the bathroom before doing anything else, felt better, took the blood pressure to again find it lower than it had been in first reading this morning and then settled down at the computer to finish yesterday's entry, post, process the morning pictures and start here just after noon.

Later. Heard the sound of a helicopter or helicopters overhead not long after ten and so checked the East Bay Times web site to find a story saying two people had been shot in the Kume Spa down on Grand that I'd passed returning from breakfast a half hour before this had evidently happened. More information was posted later, one of the two employees who'd been shot had died. This is the same area where a man had been shot and killed some weekends ago, an area I'd again left less than an hour before it had happened. Maybe it really is time to be leaving Oakland.

More time on the tablet, an email from the landlord giving formal notice we needed to move out by the end of February and a conversation with the building manager to wrap up still remaining details. So it's real.

Evening. The blood pressure seems to have behaved. Higher this evening than this morning, of course, but that's the norm. Watched more of a Britbox series on the tablet, stopped at eight-thirty and turn off the radio and the lights just after nine thinking we'd make up for last night.

The photo up top was taken at the 2014 San Francisco J-Pop Festival with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
