January 6, 2017

Later

Friday. To bed and to sleep early enough (I seem to recall) to awaken at six-fifteen and walk to breakfast bundled up as warmly as I was able. Still a bit cold, but the oatmeal and toast breakfast with the usual fruit cup and coffee to finish, document the rise in gas prices, and then walk home under clear skies and sun. Still cold, though.

An appointment with the dermatologist at ten and so a quick edit of yesterday's entry before driving to the appointment. I figured I'd park by the Honda dealer maintenance building where there are usually parking spaces available or, if none were available, I'd bring the car in for an oil change. No mileage on the thing, but it's been quite a while since I've had it done. There were no parking spaces and so it's in the shop.

The examination of the body for potential problems: no problems. Good. A couple of pictures to show the progress on the apartment house complex they're building across the street from the hospital before walking back to the apartment, missing a bus by thirty seconds at Grand. Stopped for a cup of coffee and a pumpkin something-or-other at Peet's, more to get warm than because I wanted coffee or something to eat.

Home now as it approaches noon. The mechanic said he figured it would be ready around noon, so maybe a call soon. Nice and warm in here, he can delay for as long as he likes.

A call just as I wrote that. Might as well head out right now and get it done.

Later. A bus to Broadway and then a bus to the Honda service building to pick up the car and drive home by one.

I'd asked them to look at the CD changer under the passenger seat to see if they couldn't get it to eject the carrier that holds the CD's. Yes, they could do that, but it was $145.00 for them to look at it and something like $500.00 if it needed replacement. Decided we could live without them looking at it. The CD player is not something you use a whole lot when your driving consists of a half mile trip to breakfast and back on Sundays. IMHO.

Starting to see clouds as the afternoon progresses, no sun at all by late afternoon. Rain tonight, rain tomorrow, we'll see if we end up driving to breakfast in the morning, from what they're saying there's no chance of walking on Sunday. Not that I'm in the habit of driving to breakfast on Sundays, you understand.

The sinuses have been acting up this afternoon and so a second dose of the pain meds, the first dose taken this morning when I got home from breakfast. Otherwise reasonably clear headed, albeit clear headed in somewhat of a bubble.

Evening. Somewhat of a bubble became a more confusing bubble for a period of about two hours in the very late afternoon and into the early evening. Can't think of anything to blame it on, can't really say it was an ocular migraine, although it had some of its confusing symptoms. Still, now that it's after seven, feel better. These things would be depressing if I were into depressing.

Skipped the Inspector Gently at seven, as I usually skip this series when it plays, but did take a look at DCI Banks at eight-thirty, one I haven't avoided in a while. Avoidance kicked in thirty minutes later.

The photo up top was taken while walking home from breakfast this morning with a Nikon D500 mounted with an 24-120mm f 4.0 VR Nikkor lens.
