Time

Wednesday. Lights out before ten and to sleep soon thereafter, but awakened by a jolt at four-twenty, my first thoughts were it was either a gust of wind or an earthquake, to learn later on the news it was indeed a 3.4 earthquake centered just miles north of here.

OK, wide awake and not able to get back to sleep and so listened to the radio in bed before getting up to get ready and drive to breakfast at just before seven. Not really raining while driving, the sidewalks were dry, and it wasn't raining while driving home, but looking like rain at any given minute and so the decision to drive.

The restaurant was open when I arrived and so sat down with the papers, ordering the two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee when the kitchen was ready, a routine I've followed now since what seems like the beginning of time. No complaints, a nice upbeat way to start a day.

Finished up before nine, again no rain, the usual sidewalk picture and home. Long lines of traffic on these work day mornings, happy I no longer have to drive for any distance in the middle of them anymore.

Later. Late morning rain and so inside. A second sweater I'd ordered arrived with the mail, good. No so good the color I'd picked, a dark grey, looked pretty much exactly like the dark blue sweater I'd ordered earlier. Such is ordering online. Nice sweater, though, not need to do a return.

A short, but very strong period of tiredness in the late afternoon. It almost seemed to verge on an ocular migraine episode than a period of wanting to lie down (without being able to get to sleep). So I lied down and listened for a period to what was an unusually strong and irregular heart beat. Hmm. Lasted for more than an hour and then it straightened out and toned right down.

And what are you going to blame that on?

I was tending toward blaming it on the box of Good & Plenty I'd eaten around noon. We're thinking glucose these days, without knowing anything about it, of course. Let's hope those glucose test strips arrive soon.

Evening. Didn't get anything done today, really. We'll look at those RedForEd photographs for the web sites tomorrow. Watched a bunch of stuff on the tablet before lights out right on time this time.

The photograph was taken at the #RedForEd Teachers Strike demonstration at the Oakland City Hall with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 Nikkor VR lens.
