Friday. Lights out before ten, pushing it a bit in wanting to listen to the BBC News report on the assassination of Iran's Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani in Baghdad, awakening at a quarter to six and getting up to (what else?) take the blood pressure: 109/71. OK, skip the med this morning. Out the door at the usual time to arrive before seven, the sky clear and the temperature cold. Watering eyes cold, runny nose cold, the restaurant open and ready for business. Settled in with the papers, feeling better.
The avocado and mushroom omelet, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, spending more time this morning over the papers. The Suleimani assassination had happened too late yesterday to have an entry in the Times and but short entries in the Chronicle and the East Bay Times, but there were other columns and such to evidently keep my interest.
Finished up at nine and set out for home, another picture of the flower in the planter along the way, another bicycle rider under the 580 Overpass on Grand and that was it but for the selfie in the apartment house lobby, thinking, as I snapped the picture quickly, I'd better get to the bathroom post haste or I'm in trouble. We were in trouble. Hi, ho. We were 148 on the scale this morning, I suspect tomorrow we'll be quite a bit lighter.
Made the haircut appointment for Wednesday next week walking home, so that's taken care of. Another blood pressure reading at ten twenty-five came in at 112/66, slightly better, maybe a short nap now and we'll be in the mood to do more than hunker down here inside with television and the tablet. Maybe.
Later. No plan B or C, let alone D, on the Suleimani assassination from the sound of it and so we'll see how it goes over these coming weeks and months. “May you live in interesting times” someone said before I was born. They've all been “interesting” times, just some more so than others.
Otherwise another listen to the news after an hour or so's nap, nap in the sense of zoning out for an hour, the radio down low in the background. Watched one or two things on tablet and television, the usual routine. A blood pressure reading at five, 138/72, deciding to take the med then to see what it looked like in the morning. Up and down, up and down.
Evening. To bed early before eight. Getting to be a habit. Lights and radio off though at the usual time well after nine, as I wanted to listen to the BBC News before going to sleep. Didn't learn anything I hadn't picked up earlier, but habit again, I guess, they don't let you step out of their zone.
