Floored

Tuesday. To sleep early enough, I seem to recall, to awaken then at just before five, blink twice (or maybe three times) and awaken to the sound of the alarm at six-fifteen. OK, another cold morning, get ready to set out walking to breakfast and arriving just before seven to find the restaurant had just opened and so entered, turned on the lights and settled in with the papers.

Had the single pork chop, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, the weight still just under the target on the scale this morning, finishing up early before eight-thirty to set out for home, another picture of one of the flowers in one to two planters along the way, an almost caught at the light bicycle rider heading toward the 580 Overpass and a selfie in the lobby, no sign of scooters on the sidewalk by the lake. Not very predictable, finding scooters lined up for rent by the lake.

An Oakland Climate Strike demonstration is scheduled from ten through the noon hour by the Oakland City Hall. I'm going. I think.

Later. Surprised myself and caught a bus downtown at ten-thirty, the traffic not so bad through the construction on Broadway as I sat on the bus thinking what am I doing, to arrive before eleven and find no one around. Well, no one demonstrating for action on climate change. Oh.

It is a Friday during the day. People are working, people are in school.

Well, their Facebook announcement said today from ten to one. I suspect something might have happened during the noon hour.

Had a raspberry shortcake cookie and small coffee in the Rotunda building and walked back up Broadway to 20th, took the shuttle bus to Webster and Grand and caught a bus home, arriving before noon. At least a decent walk and how long has it been since I've had a raspberry shortcake cookie at the café in the Rotunda building? Seems forever.

Watched the rest of the Netflix Giri/Haji (Duty/Shame) series on the tablet. It remained off the wall in the sense it's a mix of interacting characters that make no sense, but these last chapters acknowledged much of that lack of sense and attempted interesting resolutions to much of what had seemed so weird before.

Or something like that. No one has a clue as to what you're talking about.

It's an odd dance in (what is for me) a new/odd direction and worthwhile watching if only for that.

Evening. Watched the Democratic Debate.

Checked the date of the Oakland Climate Strike again. Friday. The 17th. This is Tuesday. The 14th. Where did I see it was happening today? How foggy was the brain that let this happen? Looked at my calendar in the kitchen and it was written in large letters: Friday, the 17th. This memory stumble has me floored.

The photograph was taken at the #RedForEd Teachers Strike demonstration in January 2019 at the Oakland City Hall with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 Nikkor VR lens.
