Bed

Thursday. Tired and so to sleep well before ten to awaken briefly at five, blink once, maybe twice, to ten hear the alarm that sound at six-fifteen. OK, the sound of wind outside the windows, they'd been saying we'll get lots of rain through the night and into the commute this morning and so up and out the door to drive to breakfast, realizing it hadn't rained at all last night. Maybe walk instead of drive? Well, I'd dressed for driving rather than walking in the cold and so didn't blink, but drove to breakfast without a second thought, arriving to find the restaurant open and people inside. Well, two people I could see: a waitress and a customer in the dining room.

The single pork chop, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, still no sign of any weight gains on the scale this morning, finishing up fairly close to nine with the rain we'd been expecting coming down now like crazy, hard enough I delayed walking to the car to see if it wouldn't lighten up. It didn't lighten up and so took a picture from inside the restaurant instead of on the sidewalk while walking to the car, running this time with the camera under the jacket. Got wet, but not that wet, and so drove home, took the selfie and quickly turned on the heat in the living room before settling in at the computer. We need the rain and so won't complain. He mumbled to himself.

Later. Rain on and off and so inside to do little other than watch television, try to find something I was willing to watch on the tablet and listen to the news that started at two. A familiar afternoon. At least the rain didn't have me trying to make up reasons to go outside.

Evening. One last strong downpour in the early evening. The Oakland Climate Strike tomorrow in the late morning when they're saying little to no chance of rain and so we'll see if we can't make it.

Stayed up until eight to check out Vera on PBS, discovered I'd seen it before and, as usual, didn't have a clue as to how it turned out. Still decided to turn it off and head for bed.

The photograph was taken at the #RedForEd Teachers Strike demonstration in January 2019 at the Oakland City Hall with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 Nikkor VR lens.
