Interest To Me

Friday. Lights out before ten to awaken once very briefly during the night to then awaken finally at six-fifteen, running a little over the six o'clock target. Made quite a difference as the sun, instead of just sitting below the hills to the east, was now sitting just above as I started out. A bright sun, in other words, and a nice walk (albeit squinting, forgetting to bring sun glasses) to breakfast.

Friday, stuff going on out there I seem to recall, so best check the calendar. They're saying quite warm today, t-shirt weather, and so I should try to find a way to coax myself outside.

Later. A quick walk over to the lake to see how they're doing with the path paving project, the usual few pictures and then back to the bus stop on Grand to catch the downtown bus and take another set of Latham Square photographs. They seem to be active, just a few workers on site, but I suspect I caught them at their noon break so it's hard to say.

None of yesterday's dry mouth/vision stuff (I'd had the plain waffle with sliced strawberries and bananas for breakfast, maybe a factor, maybe not) and so off the bus at the 7-11 look-alike to buy two of the large bottles of Diet Coke, the first Diet Coke of the year. Yes they say even diet soft drinks should be avoided for various reasons, but it's a sign of summer: heat and so a glass of Diet Coke in the afternoon now and again when the mood is good.

Today we look for pictures I've taken of my cousin to send to his brothers and sister. I haven't taken pictures thinking to document individual family members at our annual gatherings and I'm worried I don't have many specifically of him as some people seek the camera and some people consciously or unconsciously stay away. We'll go through what I'm realizing is a sprawling hodgepodge stored here, there and who knows where.

Later still. OK, the very few pictures I'd managed of my cousin have been found and sent along. Might be more much older ones among the negatives, but we'll see how it goes once everyone else has made their contribution. Haven't touched today's pictures, but I'll at least process the two or three lake pictures needed for this. Not such a bad day, otherwise. The head reasonably clear, none of yesterdays fireworks. Our secret in all this? Bananas for breakfast, I guess.

Evening. Didn't need to listen to Democracy Now on top of hearing quite a bit of it on the radio this morning. Nothing on television unless Charlie Rose has something I want to hear. We are indeed drifting off into our own ever smaller pond of program preferences. I don't believe the advertising community is particularly concerned, but still, it's certainly, if somewhat perversely, of interest to me.

The photo up top was taken at the San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
