Before Six

Wednesday. To bed last night fairly early just before nine to then awaken at five forty-five to listen to the five minute KPFA news before Democracy Now! started at six, up finally at seven twenty-five to set out walking to breakfast under clear skies, the weather people saying it will hit eighty degrees later this afternoon. Arrived at the restaurant to enter the closed off dining area, turn on the lights and settle in with the papers. Life in the fast lane.

Ordered the plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee, having had the pint of ice cream yesterday and not wanting to be surprised on the scale on one of these coming mornings, finishing up by nine-thirty totally lost in a cloud, as I got up out of the usual sequence to turn out the dining area lights and forgot I hadn't taken the finishing up picture at the table as I was walking to the front of the restaurant to pay for the meal. A slight deviation from the routine, the mind in a cloud. No great loss, obviously, but a memory glitch lesson observed and relearned.

The morning now warmer, passing by people still half of whom weren't wearing masks as I was stopping to take the usual pictures of flowers, finding one or two that had disappeared in the past, only to flower again. Makes the slower walk going home seems to go faster than the walk going in.

On by the lake and then through the parking lot at the bottom of my hill, take the selfie in the lobby and settle in at the computer to start the finish yesterday's entry and start on this one, finishing up after noon.

Later. The frame kit I'd ordered for a recent print I'd made arrived this afternoon and so I put it together. Nice frame, nice photograph. Thought that was enough “effort” for the day, given my recent history with household tasks, but then I continued riding on this apparent head of steam and tried using a kind of sponge-like “cloth” I'd read about recently in a blog. I'd ordered it last weekend and received it yesterday, the writer having complained about how inconvenient is was to use the sponges we all use in the kitchen and bathroom before she'd discovered this “cloth”. It does seem to work using it to dust in the bedroom, but we'll put off any final judgment until we've used it for a while.

Evening. The various PBS television stations are still in their fundraising mode and so nothing I wanted to watch on television, spending the evening on the tablet watching a series on Britbox instead. Lights out by ten (again), I'm guessing we'll wake up (again) before six.

The photo up top was taken at the San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
