Here In Oakland

Art & Life

March 29, 2021

Night

Monday. To sleep at a decent hour to awaken then at ten minutes to six to listen to Democracy Now! before getting up after seven to walk to breakfast on another clear sunny morning. Arrived to find the patio tables all set in place and so settled down at the usual place and started on the papers. Mondays are slow days, but it turned out to be unusually slow as no one turned up to dine on the patio or inside the dining room until after I left.

The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee, finishing up around nine again to walk home under a bright sun, the temperature just fine and thinking maybe it was going to be another race for the bathroom when I got home. Always adds a bit of dread, but hurried taking the selfie before successfully getting upstairs to the apartment. Life in the just fast enough lane, here in Oakland.

OK, two days to go to get the second vaccination shot, be nice to have that done and over with. Settled in at the computer and finished yesterday's short and less than informative entry before starting on the pictures, finishing up right here after eleven. Now, will I space out and leave what follows until tomorrow morning?

Later. An hour's nap starting not long after noon, similar to the nap I took yesterday. So much, I guess, for having gotten enough sleep. Still naps are good and something the body does when it's in rhythm.

Watched two episodes of a Netflix series I assumed I hadn't seen before for well over an hour before noting, from scrolling down to the episodes to follow, that they indicated I had indeed watched the whole series in the past with their red lines showing up along the bottoms.

How much is a memory glitch was this? It does start out a bit scrambled, resembling many another series like it that I've watched in the past, but not to even have a clue after watching the thing for over an hour? Hell, I'll continue with it to see if something doesn't stir a recollection. But still....

Evening. I ended up watching a Father Brown episode at eight. Silly it, silly me. To bed then around nine to listen to the radio for maybe fifteen minutes and then turn out the lights the the night.

The photo up top was taken at the San Francisco 2015 Vietnamese Lunar New Year Tet Festival with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
