Wednesday. To sleep at a decent hour to awaken at six-ten, five minutes before the alarm was set to sound. Up to turn off the alarm and get ready to walk to breakfast under relatively clear skies, the sun now just up over the eastern hills as these days move along. The restaurant open when I arrived and so settled in with the papers to start this month of May feeling fine.
The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee over the papers for breakfast to finish up relatively early at eight-thirty and head out for home, the sun bright, the attitude good, the head relatively clear and finding more pictures than I usually do on the way home. Ran into the young woman runner again just beyond the fitness club and was able to take a couple of pictures. The same old selfie in my apartment house lobby.
Posted yesterday's entry and processed this mornings pictures. There's a May Day march later this afternoon at three starting at the Oakland City Hall and I'm planning to attend. Really. Then again, we'll know soon enough.
Later. Finished the last episode of Netflix series Liverpool 1 on the tablet. The characters remained consistently nonfunctional, miserable people leading miserable lives. Not sure why I watched both six episode seasons, but it obviously kept me coming back.
Up to head down to catch the bus without the NextBus app working anymore to discover it wasn't coming for another twelve minutes and so I stood waiting, feeling a little wobbly and thinking did I really want to do this? The bus came running five minutes late on top of the twelve and got on board, but it was close. Very close.
Only spent forty minutes at the City Hall, more snapping than taking photographs, the head still a bit wobbly, deciding finally to go by the City Center convenience store and pick up a box of Good & Plenty before walking to the bus. Managed to catch the bus, but only because they were changing drivers as I was watching it from the across the street and it stayed parked until the light had changed and I was able to cross. Luck.
Not enough pictures, but pictures, none the less. Not a good sign for other festivals and events that are coming up if this one has fizzled out. But enough.
Evening. Watched a continuing episode of the weekly The Weissensee Saga set in East Germany during the cold war, one I'd first found and watched last Wednesday night. Gives a really creepy feeling about living under the Stasi and why you might want to risk life and limb to escape over-under-through the wall. Not bad. To bed not long after nine after making a mental note to watch for it next Wednesday when the next two chapters are aired.
