At All
Wednesday. To bed early, lights out at ten, to awaken then at five-thirty and get up at six on a bright sunny morning. Nice to see after all this rain. Should have brought the sun glasses walking into the rising sun on the way to the restaurant, though, stopping briefly to take a picture of a sign wired to a staircase where people have evidently been smoking, scattering (I'm assuming) their cigarette butts on the stairs and sidewalk. Arrived at five minutes to seven, the restaurant open and people inside.
The avocado omelet, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast. Surprised to find I was over a pound under the target on the scale this morning. Finished the papers by eight-forty and so set out to walk back to the apartment, passing another bicyclist waiting on the light under the 580 Overpass, an approaching ambulance with lights and siren going when the light turned. Home to take the selfie on the way to the apartment.
Bright sun today, the temperature not all that great (it's been running a good ten plus degrees cooler than normal for this time in May), but no excuse in not getting outside. But then I've said that before, haven't I.
Later. Checked the time and realized a bus would arrive at the stop at the bottom of my hill in five minutes and so packed a camera and headed out, arriving with a minute to spare. Can't keep cutting it this close (he said). Got off at Latham Square as I wanted to take a picture of the construction site at 17th and Broadway, took the picture and walked on to the City Center where I bought a box of Good & Plenty and ate it on a bench outside the store. Haven't done that in a while.
The idea was to head on and take pictures of the construction site opposite my old office in the APL building, as they've been making quite a bit of progress since I've last been in the area. Cut over to 12th Street toward Clay and took two pictures of another building they've started on the opposite side of the old APL building at Clay, one I really hadn't been aware of since it was started. Quite a bit of construction in downtown areas I've been avoiding in these last years.
A walk over to the Asian Cultural Center to get and eat an ice cream cone while sitting by the fountain before walking on to Webster and take a picture of still another construction site at 11th and Webster, again, one I haven't seen in some time. Can't really remember if I've been by recently enough to have seen it at all.
A walk back to the 11th Street stop on Broadway, lucking out to see a bus arriving just as I was approaching. Lucked out for the bus and the fact I was, by this time, feeling like crap: tired, head in a bubble, sinus-upper palate acting up. If this had been a parade or street festival I'd been photographing, it wouldn't have turned out well.
Home to crash in front of the tablet before futzing with the pictures. Still slow headed after what should have been not that big a deal for a walk.
Evening. Watched two more episodes of The Weissensee Saga, East Germany under the Stasi, the character interactions unconvincing, but the story line quite authentically creepy.
You shouldn't attempt to describe these unless you're willing to think harder and write a whole lot more clearly.
I know. Stayed to watch the Dutch Baantjer Mysteries – The Murder Among Doctors, a straight forward police procedural with a straight forward who done it plot that was nicely resolved. No creepy feelings at all.
